Part-time position, 20 hours/week 

Salary  – $25k annually, plus benefits

Do you have your finger on the pulse of news, music and culture in Western Wyoming? Are you a savvy media consumer keen to explore fresh takes on Jackson Hole? 

We’re looking for a new part-time producer at KHOL; someone invested in the community and excited to help inform residents on issues in the region through conversations with leaders and stakeholders, in addition to creating new digital content to better connect with readers and listeners.

This job has several elements for a creative multi-tasker: producing a bi-weekly, half-hour public affairs show. You’ll also work with our news, music and culture departments to create new digital content. You’ll tackle social media strategy and help craft our station newsletter. 

Your stories around music, news and culture can also land on air. Our team is happy to help teach you audio editing skills and offer guidance to turn digital content into great radio. Previous KHOLers have gone on to work for NPR, the Mountain West News Bureau, Wyoming Public Media, attend law school and even travel the world as freelancers! 

We offer a flexible schedule and workplace with a combination of remote and in-person work. And can help accommodate your schedule if you are juggling multiple jobs, as we certainly understand the region’s affordability challenges. 

  • Produce a new 30-minute bi-weekly public affairs show (ideate, book guests, edit audio) and bi-weekly magazine-style show (Jackson Unpacked)
  • Help write and produce web content 
  • Assist with social media posts to engage existing audiences and help grow the station’s reach 
  • Assist station with ad hoc production needs, including writing and producing on-air promos and station newsletter 
  • Track digital performance metrics (monthly)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Curious, open-minded, communicative
  • Civically informed with an interest in the community happenings of the region; finger on the pulse of news and culture; avid reader 
  • Self-motivated with an ability to multi-task and manage many projects simultaneously
  • Organized and communicative 
  • Tech savvy (will primarily be using Google Docs, WordPress)

 Desired skills

  • Proficiency with Adobe Audition
  • Spanish-language proficiency 
  • Journalism or media experience  – whether at a newspaper, digital publication, radio etc. 
  • Visual design competency – photography, graphic design

Major Gifts Officer

Part-time/contract position.

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for planning, managing, and executing a comprehensive, diversified, and strategic advancement effort that sustains and grows revenues from individual donors, foundation giving, planned giving, and special events. 

This role leads the development of KHOL’s effort to cultivate and systematically increase the number of transformational gifts to the organization to support the station’s strategic plan. Responsibilities include driving fundraising efforts, overseeing engagement, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective and current donors across KHOL’s multi-channel campaigns, including radio, podcasts, digital, direct mail, email, targeted ads, and texting, as well as targeted programming to retain and deepen donor relationships.

Job Duties:  

  • Cultivate and maintain portfolio of major donors (including foundations and donor advised funds, bequests, and estates)
  • Implement a planned giving strategy
  • Research grants; execute a grant strategy 
  • Write grant proposals and grant reports 
  • Plan, coordinate and execute activities for major donors
  • Collaborate with the development manager (who oversees membership and underwriting) to identify potential donors and business sponsors/partners

Required Qualifications: 

  • Record of accomplishment in fundraising and demonstrated success in acquiring major gifts
  • Facility with Google Suite and experience with a CRM
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as a team member within a multifaceted organization requiring collaboration, teamwork, and communication
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to multi-task and manage many projects simultaneously

Have a story idea for KHOL? We’re looking for audio and digital features primarily focused on Teton County, Wyoming, or Teton County, Idaho. Housing, tourism, local politics, climate change, wildlife and recreation are some of the major topics we cover.  Jackson is also about 30% Latino, and we would love to expand our bilingual coverage of that community.

Reporting can be done remotely, but freelancers will ideally be based in the Mountain West and/or have a strong familiarity with the region.

Compensation

$400 for a feature, web and audio, 4 – 6 minutes$250 for superspots, web and audio, 2+ sources, 2 – 3 minutes$150 for two-way, web and audio$100 for spots w/ narration and 1 source$75 for spots w/o narration and 1 source  + $50 for photos
